Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are cap-like structures that can be used to strengthen a treated tooth, restore the structure and comfort of a broken tooth, or support a tooth that has a large filling. They’re made to fit over the biting surface of your tooth and can be crafted from several different materials, including Emax, zirconia, and porcelain. Each of these is custom-shaded to match the color of your natural enamel, so the crown is virtually indistinguishable from your surrounding, healthy teeth.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Metal fillings have been used to restore decayed teeth for many years, but they’ve always come with pitfalls – their appearance can ruin your beautifully natural smile, and there’s a strong risk of the tooth becoming weaker and fracturing down the road. Thankfully, composite resin fillings have transformed this process for the better. This biocompatible composite resin can be precisely shaded and matched to blend in with natural enamel, creating a much more pleasing look you’ll enjoy. It’s also directly bonded to your tooth, which strengthens its structure and more effectively prevents new decay from forming.

Safe Mercury Filling Removal

Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique (SMART), is a series of measures recommended for professionals to safely remove amalgam tooth fillings that contain mercury. Our team closely follows these protocols to make your treatment as safe as possible. Once your metal filling is removed, we can place a biocompatible composite resin one in its place to improve the aesthetic appearance of your smile and eliminate any sensitivity.

CEREC One-Visit Dental Restorations

CEREC one visit dental restoration system

When you’re waiting on a new restoration for a damaged or missing tooth, the time between appointments can feel like a lifetime. At Los Gatos Dental Group, we’ve greatly simplified this process with the power of CEREC technology! Instead of using messy impressions and inconvenient temporaries, our team can smoothly take you through impressions, design, crafting, and placement all in one convenient appointment, allowing you to leave that very same day with strong, permanent results.

Using computer assisted design and manufacture (CAD/CAM) technology, CEREC offers the same beautiful, natural restorations using precise, digital impressions, and an in-office milling unit. A series of digital X-rays, images, and impressions are all instantly transferred to the milling unit, where a single cube of dental-grade porcelain is accurately crafted into a cosmetically flawless dental restoration. Once the restoration is completed, you immediately receive this custom crown, inlay, or onlay. There’s no need to wear a temporary or wait for a dental lab to return a custom restoration. Although it is a great system and has worked wonders for us over the years, not all situations are ideal for CEREC. One of our dentists would be happy to discuss your specific needs and see if a CEREC restoration is appropriate for you.
