Meet the Doctors
 
 

Dr. Gregory Sawyer has been serving the needs of Santa Clara County since 1978. He received a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Southern California in 1973, Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude. He received his D.D.S. from U.S.C in 1977 with honors (OKU) after having served as the class president. Residency was done at U.C.L.A. in Hospital and General Dentistry.

Dr. Sawyer is a member of the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the International Association of Computer Dentistry, the Sleep Disorders Dental Society, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantology, the Association of Osseointegration, and is a Fellow in the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry. He is a registered continuing education provider, and travels around the world lecturing to other dentists about dental implants (see his lecture schedule here). He is married with two school age sons.

Dr. Sawyer is a consultant to Suni Imaging Microsystems, the leading manufacturer of digital X-ray sensors in North America, and a consultant and trainer for Lares Research, a manufacturer of dental lasers. In his spare time, he bicycles, referees soccer games, skis, sings bass in a barbershop quartet, and plays golf (however badly).

  Dr. Matthew Diercks has been practicing Dentistry in Los Gatos since 1998. He was born and raised in San Mateo and graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in Microbiology in 1993. Dr. Diercks received his D.D.S. in 1998 from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.

Dr. Diercks is a member of the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Santa Clara County Dental Association. He has completed courses in periodontal treatments, cosmetics, and restorative dentistry. Dr. Diercks has been a provider of Invisalign since 2000, and has attended several workshops which addressed how the health of the oral cavity affects the rest of the body and treats his patients accordingly. Dr. Diercks has also received additional training in endodontics (root canals), and performs all of the root canal procedures in our office.

When not at work, Dr. Diercks enjoys just about anything outdoors. Wakeboarding, snow skiing and scuba diviing are his favorites, but he can also be found on the golf course from time to time looking for his lost ball. Dr. Diercks is a motorcycle enthusiast and trys to spend as much time as possible on the bike when the weather is nice. He is married with a new baby boy and lives in San Jose.

Dr. Liza Karamardian has been practicing dentistry for over 15 years in the Bay Area.  She graduated from UC Irvine with a BS in Biology in 1988.  She then attended the UCLA School of dentistry, graduating in 1993. Dr. Karamardian practiced in the city of San Francisco for 12 years before moving to the South Bay. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, and believes in treating the “whole patient” with a strong emphasis on the link between oral health and systemic health. Dr. Karamardian is actively involved in her profession and continues to further her dental skills by attending many continuing education classes throughout the year. 

 While in dental school, Dr. Karamardian won several awards from her instructors and the administration.  As a practicing dentist in San Francisco, she became involved with the San Francisco Dental Society and was elected as its President in 2001.   In this role she worked with the San Francisco Dept. of Public Health to start the first city-wide kindergarten dental screening program.  This program successfully screened over 3,000 children its first year and has continued to grow.  As a result of Dr. Karamardian’s outstanding qualities as a dentist and her contribution to the profession of dentistry, she was nominated to join the prestigious International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists in 2004.  Dr. Karamardian is also a member of the Santa Clara Dental Society, the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Karamardian is married and lives in Los Gatos with her husband and two children.  When not at work, she volunteers at her kids’ schools and various community events.  She also enjoys keeping physically fit with yoga and aerobic classes at Courtside Club.
