Emergencies |
We do everything we can to keep our patients from experiencing dental emergencies, but unfortunately they do happen. During business hours, call us at 408 402-0900 and we will do everything we can to see you that day. If it is after-hours or the weekend, call our office and at the end of the recorded message you will be instructed to dial 0 and you will then be connected to our answering service personnel who will contact one of the doctors for you. We will get back to you as soon as possible, but please keep in mind that occasionally the Doctor's cell phone can be out of range or silenced for some reason. Please be patient and your call will be returned as soon as possible.
BleedingBleeding may be controlled by direct pressure on the bleeding site. Placing a warm, moistened tea bag (no decaf) on the bleeding area will also help to constrict the blood vessels and stop the bleeding. If this is not enough, immediate care should be sought with the dental office or the emergency room service at the nearest hospital.
Knocked-out TeethKnocked out teeth should be replaced immediately in their sockets if possible. They may also be kept inside the lip or in milk to remain wet until the patient can see the dentist. *Time is really critical here if the tooth is going to be saved.* Please do not wash off a knocked-out tooth with anything but a brief rinse of water, saliva or milk. Disinfectants can cause permanent damage. Teeth which have been knocked out and replaced within minutes have a fairly good survival rate so do not panic, just get that tooth back in its socket and call us. We will usually bond the replaced tooth to the adjacent teeth to keep it immobilized as it heals.
Out of Town? If you are out of the area, please look below to see if you are close to one of these offices. These are dentist we know, usually from a seminar or a dental society, and are all excellent doctors. We have formed this network to help better serve our patient's needs even when they are out of town. All the participating dentists in our emergency network have websites, which are linked to below. We will be expanding this network as more dentists come on board. Please be aware that you are responsible for any costs incurred at the offices of these participating dentists.
