Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Gregory Sawyer

Dr. Gregory Sawyer has been serving the community of Santa Clara with exceptional dentistry since 1978. In the community Dr. Sawyer is known as a compassionate and highly-skilled dentist, dedicated to comfortable patient care. He completed his B.S. in chemistry at the University of Southern California, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude in 1973. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California in 1977. He graduated with honors and served as the class president. Dr. Sawyer completed his residency in Hospital and General Dentistry at the University of California Los Angeles.

Dr. Sawyer is a member of the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the International Association of Computer Dentistry. He belongs to the Sleep Disorders Dental Society, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the International Congress of Oral Implantology. He is also a fellow in the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry and a member of the Association of Osseointegration. Dr. Sawyer is a registered continuing education provider—he travels around the world educating other dentists about dental implants. He is also a consultant for Suni Imaging Microsystems, a leading manufacturer of digital X-ray sensors in North America, and a consultant and trainer for Lares Research, a manufacturer of dental lasers.

Dr. Sawyer is married with two sons. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family. He’s an avid bicycler, skier, and singer in a barbershop quartet. He also enjoys refereeing soccer games and playing golf.

Dr. Matthew Diercks

Dr. Matthew Diercks has been practicing dentistry in Los Gatos since 1998. He prides himself on providing quality, comfortable dental care to all of his patients. Dr. Diercks grew up in San Mateo; he received his degree in Microbiology from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1993. In 1998 he completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.

Dr. Diercks is a member of the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Santa Clara County Dental Association. He has completed courses in periodontal treatments, cosmetics, and restorative dentistries. Dr. Diercks has been a provider of Invisalign since 2000. He has specialized training in endodontics (root canals), and performs the root canal procedures for Los Gatos Dental Group.

Dr. Diercks lives in San Jose with his wife and son. In his free time he enjoys being outdoors—his hobbies include wakeboarding, snow skiing, and scuba diving. He also spends time playing golf (and subsequently searching for his lost ball!). Dr. Diercks is a motorcycle enthusiast and when the weather is nice he spends as much time on his bike as possible.

Dr. Liza Karamardian

has been practicing dentistry in the Bay Area for over 15 years. She is committed to holistic general dentistry treatment—she treats the “whole patient” with a strong emphasis on the link between oral health and systemic health. Dr. Karamardian graduated from the University of California Irvine with a B.S. in Biology in 1988. She graduated from the School of Dentistry at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1993. She is dedicated to continuing her education; she furthers her dental skills by attending various continuing education classes throughout the year.

 Dr. Karamardian was elected the president of the San Francisco Dental Society in 2001—working with the San Francisco Department of Public Health she helped to start the first city-wide kindergarten dental screening program. This program successfully screened over 3,000 children its first year and has continued to grow.  Dr. Karamardian was nominated to join the prestigious International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists in 2004.  Dr. Karamardian is also a member of the Santa Clara Dental Society, the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Karamardian is married and lives in Los Gatos with her husband and two children.  When not at work, she volunteers at her kids’ schools and various community events.  She also enjoys keeping physically fit with yoga and aerobic classes.

Meet Our Friendly Staff

Michele - Office Manager

Michele has been with our office since 2002. She is in charge of keeping our office running smoothly as well as handling the business side of the office. She is instrumental in our day to day operations She helps with treatment plan coordination for all of our implant and complex cases. Michele's 17 years of experience in all apsects of dentistry such as Rgistered Dental Assistant, Surgical Assistant, Insurance Coordinator and Office Manager are invaluable when it comes to helping patients understand their treatment options as well as organizing and scheduling their appointments.

Reina - Accounts Administrator

Reina has been with us since 2005. She is in charge of our patient's accounts, which includes billing, collections and insurance claims. Reina deals with insurance companies on a daily basis and has a lot of knowledge in that department, so if you ever need an insurance question answered, she is the one to talk to. She reviews treatment plans for our patients, answering any questions they may have about their insurance, and is responsible for much of the appointment scheduling. She also assists patients who would like to set up a payment plan through our billing service. Reina is also available to answer phone calls.

Shawntel - Scheduling Coordinator

Shawntel has been with our office since 2008, and is usually the person you will talk to when calling. She handles the majority of our phone calls, and also takes care of all the appointments and scheduling for our patients. New patients also go through Shawntel first, she collects their information and gets their New Patient exam initiated. We start every morning with an office meeting led by Shawntel, it is at this meeting that we review the day ahead of us and make sure that we have everything prepared for our patients.

Debbie - Registered Dental Hygienist

Debbie has been with the office for almost 25 years! She is one of our three hygienists whom are all responsible for providing our patients with the routine cleanings, as well as the prevention and treatment of gum disease.

Gracie - Registered Dental Hygienist

Gracie has been with us for two years. She is another one of our three hygienists whom are all responsible for providing our patients with the routine cleanings, as well as the prevention and treatment of gum disease.

Lenda- Registered Dental Assistant

Lenda (pronounced Linda) joined our practice in 2007 and has been a Registered Dental Assistant for 6 years. She truly loves her career and the interactions she has with her patients. She will always try to put a smile on her patient's face. In her spare time she enjoys playing the saxophone and the accordian.

Berenice - Dental assistant

Bernice has been with us since December of 2008. She assists the doctors during dental appointments and is responsible for maintaining and sterilizing our instruments.
